The Student Chef of the Year Award

Criteria

This awards seeks to identify the country’s most talented chef, aged 12-18, who is currently enrolled as a pupil within a school in Scotland. The winner will be an individual who takes an enthusiastic interest in food and cooking and will be accustomed to developing their own recipes and menus. Regarded as a future star of Scottish hospitality, they will have experienced previous success in external and/or in-school culinary competitions.

An awareness of and commitment to the use of fresh, sustainable ingredients when cooking. (Maximum 300 words)*
A description of at least one instance when the nominee’s knowledge and enthusiasm has inspired other pupils to take up cooking or to enquire about improving their own skills. (Maximum 300 words)*
Evidence of any competitive experience and success, including school or external cookery competitions. (Maximum 300 words)*
A testimonial and/or letter of reference or support from a school teacher or external influence which outlines the candidate’s future potential in the kitchen. (Maximum 300 words)*
