ENTER THE SCOTTISH SCHOOL FOOD AWARDS
Aimed at recognising catering excellence, sustainable strategies and practices, healthy-living initiatives and innovative foodservice in schools across the country, the Scottish School Food Awards are unique to Scotland’s education sector.
There are 10 award categories across the spectrum of foodservice, from nutrition, well-being and innovation, to technology, sustainability, community interaction and employee achievement. Nominations are simple, straightforward and free of charge, and will be judged by an independent panel of experts from the education, technology and foodservice sector.
The winner of this award will be a school in Scotland that is leading the way in nurturing and encouraging future hospitality talent. Alongside the development of people skills and business acumen, the winning institution will strive to identify and instil in its pupils the dual hallmarks of empathy and enthusiasm, both of which are essential attributes for a career in the hospitality sector.
This award seeks to acknowledge the leading Scottish school that prioritises the well-being of pupils and staff, and successfully fuses the link between a positive educational environment and first-class foodservice. In encouraging individuals to lead healthier lives, the winning establishment will offer a variety of measures and initiatives to help recognise, address and counter the effects of potential mental health issues among the entire school community.
This awards seeks to identify the country’s most talented budding chef, aged 12-18, who is currently enrolled as a pupil within a school in Scotland. The winner will be an individual who takes an enthusiastic interest in food and cooking and will be accustomed to developing their own recipes and menus. Regarded as a future star of Scottish hospitality, they will have experienced previous success in external and/or in-school culinary competitions.
This category is open to all catering brigades working within a school environment in Scotland. The award aims to recognise the team of individuals who is leading the way in using food, innovation and imagination to transform children’s eating habits and their attitude to health and nutrition.
